Zu Ihrer Information habe ich UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM()
für meine in Swift geschriebene App verwendet. Die App kann mit XCode 6.3.1 ohne Warnung mit diesem Befehl gut kompiliert werden. Sie läuft gut auf Simulator (mit beliebigen ausgewählten Geräten) und auf allen meinen echten Geräten (iPhone, iPad) mit iOS-Versionen von 7.1 bis 8.3.
Die App stürzte jedoch auf Geräten von Apple-Testern ab (und wurde abgelehnt). Es dauerte einige Tage, bis ich das Problem mit wenigen erneuten Uploads zu iTunes Connect erkannt hatte.
Jetzt benutze ich stattdessen UIDevice.currentDevice().userInterfaceIdiom
und meine App kann von solchen Abstürzen überleben.
